Historical Re-Creations emerged from Gordy's Mills, a business that developed because of my love for old, water-powered mills in which I drew what I wanted, showing views that few other artists considered, simply because waterwheel powered mills operate differently.
The evolution of the original business into Historical Re-Creations took place as people began commissioning me to draw what they wanted shown. Simple views of mills began to include the miller's house and surrounding buildings related to the mill, and in time, towns which had grown up around the mill.
I take into consideration all kinds of terrain features as I develop the site into a "living scenes a century or two ago," complete with people working at chores, wagons coming and going, housewives doing the wash outside and children in the proper historic setting; even the privies are included.
One of the things that my customers like about the way Historical Re-Creations operates is that we really mean it when we say, "the customer is always right." We, as historically minded individuals, have learned what can be done to retain the historical,
pictorial record and yet maintain an authentic and accurate reproduction of any historic site, whether it is still evident or long gone.
